Finally, my account of the Ball [Oct. 4th, 2003|11:47 am]

I'm ever so sorry that I haven't been around. After the ball, everything was so busy. The teachers decided to pile the work on again. But now it is Saturday, and I've already finished my homework. (I'm turning into Hermione!) That said, I'll tell all about the ball today.

First of all, we all had an absolutely lovely time! Everything was so much fun. It was wonderful from the very beginning. There we were, Me, Hermione, Lavendar, and Parvati, locked up in the dormitory. Parvati worked on Hermione, and Lavendar was with me. First, Lavendar did my hair. She used a spell to warm a portion of her wand as if it were what the Muggles call a "curling iron". (I wonder if Dad has one of those.) Then she took sections of my hair, twisted them to the top, and then she curled each section. When she was done curling, she put little blue silk flowers in it. It was so pretty! When Lavendar was finished, she used a charm to keep it from falling down, and then she started on my makeup. Since I'm so pale already, Lavendar didn't feel the need for powder. She put shimmery eyeliner on my eyes and then curled my eyelashes. Then she dusted my cheeks with pretty pink blush and put matching colour on my lips. In the meantime, I was glancing over at Hermione and Parvati. Parvati was doing a wonderful job. She managed to make Hermione's hair sleek and shiny without Sleekeasy's! So then, Lavendar had a look at my nails and decided that I needed a manicure. She clipped and filed and polished. When she was finished, I was amazed. They were long and smooth and painted silver. By the time Lavendar was finished with me, Hermione was already in her robes, and Parvati was also changing, so I decided to go ahead and change. My robes were still perfectly pressed, and Lavendar's spell worked just fine because after I had pulled them over my head, my hair was still in perfect condition. I was watching Parvati get herself ready when I heard shouts comming from downstairs. Soon we could hear Ron and Harry yelling from the bottom of the stairs, telling us to hurry up and that they would leave without us. Hermione smiled evily and said "Watch this, girls,", and do you know what she did next, Diary? She snuck out and changed the boys' robes to a girls' colour! Harry's turned pink, and Ron's became purple! (Let me just say that he looks almost as bad in purple as he does in maroon.) Then Harry tried to sneak up the stairs to the girls dormitory. However, the poor thing forgot that when a boy tries to sneak into the girls room, the stairs turn into a slide, and he went tumbling backwards! Lavender,Parvati and I had been watching them from the doorway, and we were shrieking with laughter. I actually wiped a tear from the corner of my eye! Then I decided to help Hermione out. I pointed my wand at the boys, turning their robes back to normal. They actually looked quite nice themselves. Harry still wore the same green ones, only I think he might have had them let out since he's grown. Ron's were a lovely royal blue. They really brought out his eyes. I knew Hermione would be impressed. We ducked back inside the room to finish getting ready.

When Hermione and I were finished, Lavendar and Parvati weren't quite ready, so Mione and I left. When we reached the stairs, Harry and Ron looked up and just stared for a moment. Harry ruffled his hair, and Ron's ears turned pink. Hermione and I grinned at each other. "Ready then?" said Harry and we nodded. Harry held his arm out to me, and I took it. The four of us went down the hallway together making our way down the the great hall. We passed Draco Malfoy and Millicent Bullstrode on the way there. Millicent's robes were quite unflattering. They were mint green and about two sizes too small. (Funny, I always saw Millicent with Crabbe or Goyle. I guess her strong resemblance to them was too frightening!) Crabbe and Goyle followed with Pansy Parkinson and Blaise Zabini behind. (I guess when it comes to sticking with the purebloods, as they're all so concerned, there's really no such thing as good tastes, anymore.) Malfoy raised one of his eyebrows at us, "Well isn't that sweet. Potty and the Weas-" he started to say. When Professor McGonagall started making her way towards them, he stopped, and then he, Millicent, and the rest of the cronies walked away. Professor McGonagall nodded to them and gave them a small smile and proceeded into the great hall. WHen she had her back turned, I had a brilliant idea. I took out my wand. "Watch this..." I whispered. I aimed it at the back of Millicent's robes and, using a clever cutting charm, cut a very large hole in the back of that hideous mint green mess! Hermione was actually about to help Millicent! However, our laughing got the best of her, and we dragged her into the Great Hall.

We sat down at the tables and began eating. The food was absolutely delicious. We talked and laughed the whole time. Everything was so much more comfortable than it had been last year. Ron was exceptionally happy. I would have thought he would have felt under pressure, being with Hermione and all. I was really surprised at Harry. He was quite calm and had a good time. Then the food began disappearing off the tables and a band that had been setting up earlier began to play. I couldn't wait any longer, so I grabbed Harry by the hand and dragged him to the dance floor! Harry was a wonderful dancer. I couldn't tell last year since he only danced with Parvati the one time. He spun me around, twirled me, and dipped me as if he had been dancing for years. I had to ask him, "Harry Potter, where did you learn to dance so well?" Harry blushed a bit. "You weren't the only one who had help from Lavendar getting ready for this ball, Gin," he answered. "She gave me some private lessons." I pulled him a little closer. "Well, she did a wonderful job," I told him. He smiled at me, and we kept dancing. I managed to look over at Hermione and Ron just in time to see Hermione give Ron a kiss on the cheek. Then it was time to trade partners. The next thing I knew, Lee had grabbed me by the hand and was spinning me all over the place! Hermione was dancing with Harry, Fred was with Alicia, George danced with Angelina, and Ron was with Katie. Everyone got to dance with everyone else at least one. Fortunately, I didn't have to dance with any Slytherins. Most of the boys were surprising good dancers. Every now and then, however, I caught a glimpse of Neville stepping all over poor Susan Bones's toes.

Before we knewit, the music had ended, and everyone was making their was out of the hall. The four of us cutted to another door, crossed the lawns, and went to sit by the lakeshore. It was so beautiful. The moon and stars were all reflecting off the lake, and the four of us were so happy. We laughed and talked some more, but then it was very late, and we decided to go inside. Harry and I walked first, and then Ron and Hermione left. At first, we didn't say much, but then Harry tucked his hand into mine and pulled me closer. I rested my head on his shoulder and squeezed his hand. It was so lovely that we didn't feel the need to speak. At one point, I think I might have giggled, but Harry didn't seem to mind. When we finally reached the common room, Harry then pulled me close and KISSED ME! I mean, really kissed me on the mouth! I had no idea what to do, so I just rested my hands on his shoulders and kissed back. We stayed like that for what seemed like forever, until we heard "Jeez, what is it with you people?!" coming from Dean. Apparently, Ron and Hermione has been doing the same thing just outside the portrait hole. Harry and I broke apart, and then we girls said our good-nights. Then we made our way to the stairs. We reached the top when Hermione stopped us. She whipsered something, and we all grinned as her and nodded. "Hey Guys?" Lavender called out to the boys from the stairs. They looked back at us. "We forgot one more thing..."Parvati added. "ANd that would be?" Seamus asked. "THIS!" we four girls yelled, pointing our wands at them and shouting Hermione's colour-changin charm. The results were...a bit scary.
Ron's robes turned bright yellow, Harry's turned puke green, Dean's became tie-dyed, and poor Seamus got the worst of it: hot pink! We stayed around to see the horrified looks on their faces, and then we ran up to our rooms in peals of laughter.

The Start of Term Ball: [Sep. 17th, 2003|01:02 pm]

Its late, and I'm sleepy, but I wanted to write about the Ball while everything is still fresh in my mind. We had a lovely time. :) I suppose I will just start at the begining and go from there eh? Lavender and Parvati had agreed to help Ginny and I get ready so the four of us barricaded ourselves in our room. Parvati took on the mess that is myself and Lavender was helping Ginny. First Parvati did my hair. I don't know how she does it really, it was a stroke of genius. She straightened my hair out not with that awful sleekezys hair gel I used last year put with a muggle hair dryer and a brush. Much less messy and it worked really well. my hair was perfectly straight, then she pulled it back into the most beautiful french twist i have ever seen. Despite how I like to tease her and Lavender about their obsessions with hair and fashion they are both excellent at what they do. After my hair was all done and secured against falling out with a small charm she started to help me put on my makeup. She used all these shimmery purples and blues and even I didn't recognize myself. Then she put these little sparkles on my cheeks with her wand. The overall effect was very nice. I had thought I was done there but then Parvati noticed my fingernails, which had never even occured to me. I suppose they did look a bit ragged. I tend to chew on them when I get nervous or worried. She pulled out her wand again and set about giving me a manicure. My mouth gaped when I saw them after she had finished. I had never seen them look like that in my life. She had filed them smooth and made them longer, much longer than I have ever seen them before. She painted them a pale pale purple and they looked just beautiful. After that she seemed satisfied. And So I changed into my robes. Lavender hadn't quite finished with Ginny and I was watching Parvati get herself ready when I heard shouts comming from downstairs. Harry and Ron were standing at the bottom of the stairway yelling at the two of us to hurry up and that they were going to leave without us soon. I smiled evily and said "watch this girls." I snuck out the door and to the top of the stairway where the boys couldn't see me. I aimed my wand at them and muttered a charm under my breath. First I pointed it at Harry. Then Ron. I heard their cries of shock and surprise as they looked down to find themselves in pink and purple coloured robes. I couldn't help it, I started laughing at the sight of them trying to hide their new attire from the others still in the common room. They heard me. "HERMIONE!" Harry yelled and started up the stairs after me. "Harry wait-" Ron started trying to warn his friend. Too Late. The stairs turned into a slide and harry went tumbling head over heels back down to the common room. Ginny, Lavender, and Parvati were all peeking out the doorway shrieking with laughter. Ginny wiped a tear from the corner of her eye and pointed her wand at the boys undoing my little prank and turning their robes back to normal. We ducked back inside the room to finish getting ready.

Ginny and I were finally done. Parvati and Lavender stayed in the room to finish getting themselves ready. So Gin and I stepped out into the hallway and made out way down the stairs. The boys grinned when they saw us. Harry ruffled his hair and Ron's ears turned pink. "Ready then?" Said Harry and we nodded. The four of us went down the hallway together making our way down the the great hall. We passed Draco Malfoy and Millicent Bullstrode on the way there. Crabbe and Goyle followed with Pansy Parkinson and Blaise Zabini behind. Malfoy raised one of his eyebrows at us, "Well isn't that sweet. Potty and the Weas-" he started to say. When Professor McGonagall started making her way towards them. He closed his mouth and he and his date along with his cronies skulked off down the hallway. Professor McGonagall nodded to them and gave them a small smile. She proceeded into the great hall. Ginny in the meantime pulled out her wand. "Watch this..." she whispered. She aimed it at the back of Millicent's robes. Using a clever cutting charm she cut a very large hole in the back of the Slytherin Girl's robes. My eyes widened and I was about to try to help the girl with the other 3 burst into laughter and dragged me off before I could say anthing.

We sat down at the tables and began eating. The food was excellent and I loved being there with my 3 best friends. We talked and laughed the whole time. Then the food began dissappearing off the tables and a band that had been setting up earlier began to play. Ginny immediately grabbed Harry and dragged him off to the dance floor. I was smiling, watching them when Ron put his hand on top of mine and asked me to dance. I blushed and said yes. We made our way to the dance floor and I about fainted when Ron started leading me around the floor. He was an excellent dancer! He twirled me around and brought me back into his arms. I laughed and whispered. "Ronald Weasley, where did you learn to dance?" He blushed a little and looked to the floor. I smiled at him, he leaned in close to me as we danced and whispered into my ear. "I had Parvati teach me." My eyes widened for the second time that night. "Really?" I asked. "Yes. I just wanted you to have fun tonight. And last year at the christmas ball I was so terrible. So I asked her if she would give me lessons and she did. All last week."
I grinned, "How could I not have fun with you?" I kissed him on the cheek and spun around again. We danced for a long time. Then we all traded partners and I danced with Harry and Ginny ended up with Lee while Alica danced with Fred. George spun Angelina around the dance floor and Ron danced with Katie Bell. We all kept switching places untill everyone had danced with everyone else at least once. It was great fun. And almost all the boys were suprisingly good dancers. I couldn't help but feel sorry for poor Hannah Abbot who was wincing painfully everytime Neville trod on one of her toes.

All to soon the music ended and students began to filter out of the hall. The four of us snuck away from the crowd and across the lawns to sit by the lakes shore. It was beautiful. The stars, the moon, all my friends. I hadn't been that happy in a long time. It was nice. We talked and laughed about everything. But soon it got very late and we decided it was best that we go inside. Ron and I slowed as we walked and let Ginny and Harry go ahead of us. Ron tentativly put his arm around my waist as we walked and I leaned against his shoulder. We stopped when we got to the portrait hole. I could hear Ginny giggling a little inside and didn't want to disturb her and Harry just yet. I looked up at Ron, wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him softly. His arms tightened around my waist keeping me close to him. We stayed that way until Dean, Parvati, Lavender and Seamus came up behind them and started making kissing noises. We broke apart. Ron blushing and me laughing to cover my own embarassment. The six of us went inside and found Ginny and Harry doing the same thing Ron and I had just been caught doing. "Jeez? What is with you people?" Said Dean in mock exhasperation. Harry and Ginny broke apart. We girls said our goodnights and went up the staircase together leaving the boys in the common room to talk about lord knows what. We got to the top of the stairs when I stopped the girls. I whispered something to them and they all grinned back at me, nodding. "Hey Guys?" Lavender called out to them from the stairs. They all looked up at us. "We forgot one more thing...." Parvati finished. "And that would be?" Seamus asked. "THIS!" we all yelled pointing our wands at them and yelled my charm for colour changing robes. Rons robes turned Bright yellow, Harry's turned puke green. Deans ended up tye-dyed and Poor Seamus was stuck in hot pink robes. They all looked down at themselves horrified as the four of us in peals of laughter ran to our rooms.

The ball is almost here! [Sep. 10th, 2003|04:48 pm]

Dear Diary,
The ball is this Friday! Can you believe it??? It still feels as though it was just announced yesterday. I'm so excited I can barely sit still. At the same time, though, I'm a little nervous. Last year it wasn't that big a deal. I mean, because Neville's just a friend and all. But this time it's Harry! I'm so worried I'll make a fool of myself and then he'll never talk to me again. Then again I could be overreacting. I probably am. I know that's what Mum and Hermione would say. I'll just stop talking now before I get too carried away. More later!

Love,
Ginny

[music |"Man I Feel Like a Woman," Shania Twain]

Ginny sat impatiently in her favorite armchair in the Common Room. Where was Hermione? Ginny had to talk to the older girl immediately. When she finally saw the familiar head of bushy brown hair enter, Ginny practically ran across the room to her. "Hermione, where have you been?!?!" she asked anxiously.

"I've been down on the quidditch pitch with your brother." She said smiling dreamily. "Why? What happened?" she said with a knowing grin.

"What happened?" Ginny asked. "I'll tell you what happened: I've just realized what a genious you are, that's what happened!" Ginny then threw her arms around the other girl.

Hermione laughed and hugged her friend back. "So what did he say?"

"Well," Ginny said, letting go of her friend, "first of all, he practically ran in here. THen he saw me in the corner, and he said hello, and we talked to a bit. And then he said, 'Er, Ginny...will you go to the ball with me?'"

Hermione Squealed. "Go On!"

"Well, what do you think I said?" Ginny asked with a giggle.

"ummm" Hermione said with a grin, pretending to think hard. "That you'll think about it?"

"Hermione!" Ginny exclaimed, playfully slapping her friend lightly on the arm.

"You said, 'Yes of course you silly prat I've been in love with you since I was 10 years old why didn't you ask me 4 years ago?"

"Close enough. Actually, I was so excited and shocked that all I could do was smile and nod."

"Well that was good enough for Harry aparently. Ron and I saw him when we were walking inside. He was grinning from ear to ear."

Ginny giggled. "He was so nervous, Mione. Oh, but so cute at the same time!"

"We are going to have such a fun time at the ball. All four of us! And we will make those boys dance if it kills us!"

"Yes! Tell me, does Parvati still complain that Harry only danced with her the one time last year?"

"Every once and a while if she is feeling particularly vindictive, but mostly she just drones on about some muggle movie star named Orlando Bloom."

Ginny laughed. "When she's not all squirrelly about going to the Ball with Dean, you mean."

"Yes." Hermione laughed. "What a pair those two make. Parvati will drone on about fashion magazines and dean will drone on about football. I wonder if either of them will hear a word the other says all night!"

"It will be amazing," GInny said. "Did you hear that Neville is going with Susan from Hufflepuff?"

"Yes." She smiled warmly. "Yes I did hear about that. Good for Neville. I'm sure they will both have a great time. Now." Hermione cleared her throat importantly and grabbed Ginny by the hand marching her up the stairs to her dormitory. "I must disregaurd my former views on girls like Lav and Paravati and become one for a moment." She threw open her trunk and looked at Ginny. "What in the world am I going to wear?"

"I thought you were going to wear the same robes you wore last year," Ginny said

Hermione stared down into the depths of her trunk and pulled out the carefully folded light blue robes. She held it up against herself and looked into Parvati's full lenth mirror. "Do you think I should?"

"Hmm," Ginny said, pressing the tip of her finger to her lips. "Then again, maybe a change would be good. What about that eggshell robe you just bought? It's very pretty."

"Oh. I was hoping you'd say that!" Hermione said smiling. "I've just been dying for a chance to wear them!" She stopped suddenly for a moment, cleared her throat then said. "Urm. I mean, Even though it is such a trivial and unimportant thing to worry about. "

"Mione?" Ginny said.

She looked up through her masses of bushy brown hair. "Yes?"

"It's all right. You're going to the Ball with my brother, whom you're absolutely crazy about and is just as crazy about you. You're allowed to be silly."

Hermione grinned. "When you're right you're right. And you are right."

"Of course I am."

Hermione and Ron whispered to each other as they made there way down to the great hall to find Harry. He wasn't there eathing lunch with the others. So they grabbed a few small peices of fruit and continued their search for their friend. They finally ended their quest on the Quidditch Feild. Harry was soaring above the field on his Fireblot. The wind lifting his hair off his forehead. He glanced down and saw his two best friends waving at him from the ground. He went into a steep dive and soared towards the ground. Hermione squeezed her eyes shut. She hated it when Harry did that. She was always aftraid he was going to smash straight into the ground. But of course he never did. Harry pulled out of it beautifully and hoped off his broom like he had done nothing. He walked over to them grinning and Hermione's look of distress.

"What are you two doing out here?"

"Trying to find you as usual." Hermione grinned and the three of them sat down on the beachers. Hermione and Ron on either side of Harry. Hermione handed Harry an apple from the Great Hall. He took it greatfully and began munching on it. "So Harry," Hermione began. She had this whole plan worked out in her head. About ways to bring Harry around to the whole subjecy of Ginny and the ball very subltly without him quite realizing it. But before she could put her plan into motion, Ron interrupted her.

"So mate, are you going to ask Ginny to the ball or what?"

"What?" Harry turned flabergasted towards his redheaded friend. While Hermione siged and buried her face in her hands.

"Oh come on. Hermione told me that you fancied her."

Now Harry turned and faced his other friend. "HERMIONE!" he said.

"RON!" Hermione said at the same time.

The three of them started at one another for a few loaded seconds then they all burst into fits of laughter. Harry grinned and put an arm around each of his friends. "Yeah, I supoose I will ask her. What would I do without you two?"

"Who knows?" replied Ron.

"But lets not find out." Finished Hermione. They laughed again and Hermione and Ron shoved Harry off the bleachers towards the castle and Ginny.

"Go on then. Just go ask her right now." Ron said with a lopsided smirk.

Harry turned back towards him looking nervous.

"Harry. You know that she'll say yes, now GO!" Hermione laughed at him. Harry nodded and with a grin he turned and headed back up to the castle. And Hermione and Ron were left to entertain themselves before there afternoon lessons.

Dear Diary,
I'm so excited right now that I can hardly stand it! First of all, Professor McGonagall recently announced that there is going to be another Christmas ball! Hurray! Now I can actually go at my own will and not because someone in fourth year or more asked me. Now, second, RON ASKED HERMIONE AND SHE SAID YES!!! Can you believe it? My brother finally gave up his arrogant-jealous-prat act and asked her himself! Thank goodness. Oh, but now if only I could go with Harry. Hermione said he saw me twirling in my new robes in Hgosmeade and that he thought I looked pretty. Did I tell you about my robes? Oh, they're so pretty. They're dark blue velvet, and they're so comfortable! I want to wear them 24 hours a day. Maybe I could ask Lavendar and Parvati to do my hair and makeup. They did a good job that last time when Hermione and I went to them. By the way, I don't think I'll have to worry about Michael. I overheard him ask Padma Patil to the Ball while I was in the library the other day, and she said yes. Padma is the girl that Ron went to the ball with last year. The prat wouldn't dance with her one time! All he could do was sit and sulk while staring at Hermione and Viktor. (Sorry, Mione, but it's true.) Anyway, diary, I should go before I get too carried away.

Love,
Ginny

Ron + Hermione [Jul. 19th, 2003|12:04 am]

[mood |lovedloved]
[music |Crazy For This Girl - Evan and Jaron]

Hermione sat in The Gryffindor Common Room surround by a large stack of books. The rest of the students Were off around the castle making the most of the little time they had left before the sun set. She on the other hand sat making notes to help her study for the O.W.L.S. She had just finished her section on Arithmancy and was starting on Potions when Ron and Harry burst through the door red in the cheeks from Quidditch Practice.

"Hermione! Why didn't you come watch us?" Ron said flinging himself onto the couch near her.

"I was studying Ron! You know we have the O.W.L's this year."

He grinned at her. "Yeah, I know. You remind me all the time."

Hermione hurmphed and buried her nose back in her notes. While it went un-noticed by her Harry gave Ron a wink and then headed upstairs leaving Ron and Hermione by themselves in the common room. Ron cleared his throat and Hermione glanced up at him.

"Yes?"

"What? I didn't do anything."

"You cleared your throat. It sounded like you were trying to get my attention."

"No. Go on with your note-taking then."

Hermione gave Ron a strange look then went back to work. A few seconds past then...

"Hermione?"

She smiled to herself then looked up at her favorite Redhead again. "Yes Ron?"

"Remember that big row we had last year after the Yule Ball?"

"How could I forget?"

He grinned weakly. Then continued on. He seemed to have gotten a lot paler. "Well do you remember telling me that I should have asked you first and not as a last resort?"

Hermione's heart jumped. "Yes."

"Well, this is me asking you first. That is, if you'll go with me. Hermione, would you like to be my date to the ball?" Ron was bright red all over. Hermione had never seen him blush this badly in the entirety of their friendship. She felt herself begin to blush as well.

"Of course I will."

"Really?"

Ron looked at her happily. Hermione was so pleased that all she could do was smile and nod happily. Ron's face broke out in an ear to ear grin and he rushed over to the table where Hermione sat and lifted her from her chair spinning her around. She laughed and squeezed her eyes shut putting her head on Ron's shoulder. Slowly Ron stopped Spinning and set Hermione back down on her feet. He didn't remove his hands from her waist though. She opened her eyes and looked at him with adoration.

"You have an eyelash." He said moving his hand to her face and gently removing the lash with his thumb. "Make a wish." He said holding it close to her mouth. Hermione closed her eyes and blew softly. Ron put his hand on her cheek. "What did you wish for?"

Hermione smiled. "Wouldn't you like to know Ronald Weasley."
Softly stroking her cheek in one hand and wrapping his other around her waist and pulling her closer to him, Ron bent down and Kissed her.

After they had broken apart Hermione whispered "A wish come true."
Ron blushed, Hermione stood up on her toes and began to kiss him again.

The other half of the last conversation [Jul. 3rd, 2003|08:34 pm]

[music |"Voices Carry," Till Tuesday]

Ginny:
Ginny raised an eyebrow as she looked at her friend over her glass of milk. "What...kind of chat, exactly?"

Hermione:
Hermione Grinned. "Well you see he was doing his mopey broody thing down in the common room in the middle of the night last night. and So I asked him what was wrong. And he basically told me that he had really started to like you but that he wasn't sure if you liked him anymore..."

Ginny:
Ginny was glad that she had already set her glass down because she was certain that she would have dropped it after what she just heard. "Did you say...he likes me now??"

Hermione:
"Yes!" Hermione sqealed trying to keep her voice low in case any one was listening. And you know when he realized it?"

Ginny:
"When?" Ginny whispered back.

Hermione:
"When a certain young redhead I know was twirling around in a shop window in her new blue robes." She beamed. "He was coming back down the road and spotted you through the window."

Ginny:
Ginny could feel her breath catch in her throat. She did not want to try to say anything just yet, for she was certain if she opened her mouth, a squeal would come out. With that in mind, she broke out into a smile, grabbed Hermione's hands, and gave them a squeeze.

Hermione:
"I was hoping that would make you morning a little brighter. See, I told you he would come around."

Ginny:
After what seemed like forever, Ginny took a deep breath and said in a whisper, "I don't believe it!"

Hermione
"You had better believe it. It took a lot of prying to get him to admit that!" She laughed.

Ginny
Ginny could not help giggling. "He is difficult, isn't he? I swear, sometimes Harry is even worse than Ron! Why are men so difficult, Mione?"

Hermione:
"I think they do it just to torture us. Its sad but true."

Ginny:
"I guess I should know by now. I did grow up in a household with six of them."

Hermione
"Ys. But hopefully you were never trying to date any of them." She smirked

Ginny:
"Ew, Hermione!" Ginny made a face of disgust.

Hermione:
"But I wouldn't say no to one of them." Hermione grinned again as she glanced over at Ron who was still arguing with Seamus.

Ginny:
Ginny giggled again. "What's he gotten himself into now? You know, he really shouldn't yell so much, especially at one of his friends. It makes him look bad as a prefect."

Hermione:
Hermione looked over at Ginny. "And is there something wrong with being a prefect?"

Ginny:
"Nothing at all. What am I saying, anyway? I'm thrilled that Ron was named prefect. I'll never forget the look on his face when he opened his letter."

Hermione:
Hermione just grinned over at him again. Then she realized what she was doing and quickly shook her head. She turned back to ginny. "So what are you going to do about Harry?"

Ginny:
Ginny looked down at her breakfast, which she had barely touched. "Well, I don't want to hurt Michael's feelings, but if what you said about Harry is true, I don't want to ruin my chance."

Hermione
"Michael will understand, won't he? I mean, you never did say yes..."

Ginny:
"Well, no, I just said I would think about it."

Hermione:
"See? Just explain to him that you just don't feel that way towards him."

Ginny:
"Of course! I mean, it'll be just like the letter I helped you write to Viktor. You did send it, right?"

Hermione:
"Yes, I sent it. And he replied to it too."

Ginny:
"Ooohh! What did he say?"

Hermione:
"That he was very sorry and that if I ever changed my mind that he would still be there for me." *sighs*

Ginny:
"You see? I told you that honesty was the best way to go."

Hermione:
"I know. Now will you please take your own advice?"

Ginny:
"You're right, Mione. I can't tell you to follow your heart and not follow my own. Can you give me a few minutes?"

Hermione:
"Of course. If you can give me a few years to speak to your brother."

Ginny:
Ginny laughed and shook her head. "Mione, Mione," she said. "I'm sorry he's so dense. If it's any consolation, the other five aren't much better."

Hermione:
"I got your owl. Whats going on?" Hermione said flopping down next to her friend.

Ginny:
"Something's come up, and I don't know what to do," Ginny answered sulkily.

Hermione:
Hermione poured herself a glass of orange juice. "Whats the matter?"

Ginny:
"I've been asked out," Ginny said, "and it wasn't Harry."

Hermione:
Hermione choked on her orange juice. "By whom?"

Ginny:
"Michael Corner, fourth-year Ravenclaw. I met him at the Ball last year."

Hermione:
Hermione sputtered a bit getting the last of the orange juice out of her windpipe. She figeted a bit. "What did you say?" She asked, hoping the answer was no.

Ginny:
"I said I'd think about it," Ginny answered in a hushed tone. "Mione, what am I going to do?!"

Hermione:
"Say No."

Ginny:
"But I don't know. I mean, Michael IS kind of cute, and he's very smart. Besides, maybe I should, just to take my mind off Harry until he comes around."

Hermione:
Hermione looked around to make sure no one was listening. "But I think he has!" she whispered. "I meant to talk to you. I ran into Harry late in the common room last night and we had a little chat."
